TAJIKISTAN

Tajikistan has a lot to offer the passionate mountain hunter. Almost 70% of the country is covered by mountains. The Siberian ibexes live at altitudes between 3.500 – 4.500 m above sea level. The Marco Polo Argali (Ovis ammon polii) can only be hunted in Tajikistan. Markhor hunting is a fantastic success story that perfectly reflects the value and benefits of sustainable resource use in the form of hunting. This shows how important hunting is. It helps local people, uses a small part of a game population sustainably and is geared towards the future. Only the old and highly valuable bucks are hunted, which have impressive, wonderfully massive, twisted horns and a particularly impressive mane.
